Give them the gift of self-sufficiency - or a starter, anyway!  There's nothing like the satisfaction of being able to grow and eat your own food - and it's great for the family, too, as kids can see where the food actually comes from.  

Depending on your gift, you're also giving them a way to put food on the table that they've grown themselves.   

There are a wide range of grow your own gifts available now, or you could also buy a garden centre voucher so that the reciepient can enjoy a pleasurable hour or two strolling through a garden centre and pondering over what to buy.
