This is an introductory day course into the art of bee keeping, enabling you to learn about the different types of hives and equipment you need. You can see the bees at close quarters. You'll need to bring your own packed lunch, but tea, coffee, apple juice and biscuits are provided.

This fun, informative and award-winning honeybee experience is an introduction to honeybees and beekeeping, from an experienced beekeeper. You'll get kitted out in a beekeeper suit and then get close up and personal with the bees and the hives! You can taste the honey, too! Entry to the visitor centre will give you a fascinating insight into honeybees. You're part of a small group of up to 8 people.

You could also give them a book about the subject of bee-keeping. This book has information about the way the hive works, and how to get your bees and transfer them to the hive. It also tells you how to handle them. There's a calendar to show you when to inspect, maintain and repair the hive and how to harvest the honey.
