Puffins - gift ideas for puffin lovers

Puffins make a comeback to Isle of Muck, after decades of conservation efforts!

Read all about it here and there's a video too)

Puffins are one of Britain's best loved and most easily recognisable birds with their comical look.  According to the RSPB, they are best spotted at breeding colonies at venues such as the RSPB's Bempton Cliffs (N Yorks) and South Stack (Anglesey) reserves; the Farne Islands and Coquet Island (Northumberland); the Isle of May (off the Fife coast); and the Shetland and Orkney Islands. And they've made a comeback on the Isle of Muck, say Ulster Wildlife!   The National Trust has a guide to puffins here.

Like so many animals, puffins are not having an easy time of it and they find themselves on the Red List.  BUT on Skomer Island, Pembrokeshire, the South and West Wales Wildlife Trust have announced a record-breaking year with 43,626 puffins recorded on the Skomer Island Nature Reserve.   Find out more here.
