Writing a This is Your Life Book can make you think...

Doing a “This is your life” book for someone can really make you think...

Depending on what sort of book you’re doing, your efforts to do a "This is your life book" for a loved one can raise questions in your own mind about your own life – what you’ve done in it and what you want to do.

For instance, if the book you’re doing for a loved one has a special focus e.g. travel and the places they’ve been, that could prompt you to consider where you want to go and visit in your life - where do you want to visit, what do you want to do there?  Do you want to go as a tourist or as a volunteer?

A “This is your life” book may also inspire you to make a scrapbook or photo album about your own life.

If you were to do this right now, what would you be writing in it as a record of what you’ve done?

You could of course include what sort of adventures and opportunities would you have done and taken (a sort of bucket list), places you’ve been to, friends you’ve made, and achievements at work, but  I’m talking about the legacy you want to leave behind.  You could ask yourself questions such as:

  • What cause would I most like to help and make a difference to?
  • Who would I most like to help?
  • What would my contribution to society and the world be?

What would you want to be writing about in your scrapbook or This is your life book?

What would you write on the pages as you look back on your life?

It’s worth having a think about…taking stock, having a think, re-evaluating, making plans, looking forward and celebrating as you progress in doing those things you want to see in your own This is your life book.

You could make notes in a diary, or a journal of what you want to see  and then make plans and put them into action!
